Ilja Reijngoud Quartet

A GREAT DAY IN HARLEM. Tribute to the masters of Jazz.

In 2002 Ilja Reijngoud teamed up with the most talented and adventurous Dutch musicians to form his own quartet. In recent years the band played numerous concerts and projects, featured international soloists such as Gerard Precenser, Bart van Lier, Charis Iouannou, Fay Claassen, Francien van Tuinen, Rob van Bavel, Bert Boeren.

Their new program is inspired by the famous picture, taken by Art Kane in 1958, in Harlem, New York. The most popular and important Jazz-musicians - playing at that moment somewhere in NY- were gathered at 17 East 126th Street. The picture features stars like Basie, Eldridge, Gillespie, Mulligan and Monk. The Ilja Reijngoud Quartet pays tribute to this remarkable event.
